This Texan family group quintet, known as Eisley, has some HUGE musical artistry abilities, about as big as the state they hail from. Eisley, made up of three sisters, one brother, and one cousin (their younger sister, Christie DuPree is also involved with the family affair of Eisley, by doing the artwork for most of their merch and albums) are a smashing dynamic British rock/pop inspired Indie/Rock/Pop quintet who just so happen to be what I call REAL ARTISTS. There are musicians, and performers, and then there are ARTISTS! *Please don't ask into this any further.....you may regret doing so later when I have talked your head off about what makes a true artist set apart from all of the cookie cutter pop and hip-hop performer's of today's culture in the music world......told you I could get righteously indignant and long winded...seriously! lol
How in the world did they come up with their band name you may ask? Well, their band name was actually named after 'Mos Eisley' a town in the Star Wars films of all things. Yesiree, I bet if you have ever ran around your back yard pretending you were Princess Leia waiting to be rescued from Jabba the Hut's Palace, or have pretended to be Luke Skywalker dueling against Darth Vader with your light saber...*ahem, tree limb*...you probably just gave the band Eisley a bazillion cool points for the origin of their band name right away! :-)
I have only recently started listening to Eisley....try like recently as in only having listened to them the last 3-4 days recently. I am in love with them already! It is not often enough that you find a band of family members are driven by melodic harmonies, keys, subtle brilliant percussion, and soaring vocals likened to that of fellow Texan Leigh Nash of Sixpence None The Richer.....and HELLO! they play the LYRE! haha
Like I said before there are musicians and performers, and when you meld those two groups together you enter the realm of pure transparent refined artists.
A few of Eisley's songs that I am in love with right now are:
"Telescope Eyes"
"Lost At Sea"
"The Valley"
"Invasion"
"Marvelous Things"
Discography:
The Band Members:
Chauntelle DuPree - Lead Guitarist
Sherri DuPree - Vocals, Guitar, Lyre
Weston DuPree - Drums
Stacy DuPree - Keyboard, Vocals, Guitar
Garron DuPree - Bass Guitar
Well, I am really excited to be able to listen to this new band! (Thanks Alaythea for bringing them to my attention!) Can you tell that I love discovering new music artists? I hope I didn't bore all of you to death with my musical rantings! Maybe you'll be intrigued enough by them to give 'em a good listen....come on they named themselves after a town in the Star Wars Saga for crying out loud! So in my book that makes them worth giving a listen to...
-Daughter of the King

I Love Marvelous Things and Memories of course, right now one of my newest favorites is Ambulance! Love that song! Stacy does a lot of the lead vocals now....I think she kinda took over because her vocals are a little stronger but they both sing. And Christie is now doing her own music - you can check her out at myspace.com/christiedupreemusic. She is very mellow and acoustic and still building but she's going to be good too! I wish I had discovered Eisley earlier!
ReplyDeletei love that second album cover! with the girl on the couch and the guys with swords(right?) very different and cool. more people need to be creative with their album covers. thanks for the comments on my blog.!
