Dearest Summer,

Today was one of those absolutely delisciously warm and breezy summery days. One of those days that you could literally just spend hours walking around outside and be completely content. Even though it was somewhat humid it wasn't too hazy, which was fine by me. My pale ghostly skin treasured being illumined by the radiant vitamin d streaming through the fluffy white clouds. It was oh so very genuinely beautiful today. The taste of herb filled Italiano in my mouth, while gazing out at the lake at the vast mountainous views that surrounded me from the outside sitting area of the ristorante. Smiling, laugh lines growing wider as they spread across my face incessantly. Sides hurting. Friendship. 3 generations of women sharing themselves with one another.

Yes, It was just simply one of those beautiful days where the sunshine glistened off of the lovely lake waters, and everything seemed relaxed and carefree. I watched as the many shadows cascaded all around me, falling gently against all of the 360 degree mountain views that encased my being. The clouds waved hello and goodbye over and over again. It made me long for my DSLR, which sadly enough had been left at home in her dark and very lonely camera case. Laying in the vibrant green grass, feeling the warmth of the setting sun on my face. Photographs for bios.

Next time, Summer, I shall catch you in full glory through the lens of Lila Canon. Next time. Another beautiful day to be had. I'm waiting... Le sigh.

Summer, I think you and I are beginning to fall for one another.

Interview with Sarah of White Roses {Pt. 2}

{Daughter of the King}
So I know that you are married to a very loving wonderful young man... Could you tell us a bit about married life, it's struggles and it's shining bright moments?

{Sarah of White Roses}
Married life... It is surely interesting. A whole new life then what I have been used to for 21 years before I said "I do." Being a newly wed, I'm still grasping my new life and I have a feeling I will be for a few more coming months. The struggles... Watching my temper. That is my main struggle. I can be really serious and I have always been pretty reserved and to myself, now he is always in my hair. Ha! I can get annoyed by him pretty easily but I'm working on chilling out. If that is my only struggle right now then I think I have a great marriage. The shining moments, the little things. Like just tonight, he made me get in bed and start reading a book, then he came in with scalding hot apple tea and chocolate dunking sticks. And this afternoon he wrote me a sweet note. Or when we took a small dinner picnic to the park. It was so hot and muggy out, smelled like a sticky pond...bugs everywhere. But I loved sitting on the blanket with him, eating our ham sandwiches and strawberries. I went to take pictures of the baby ducks, then we out-ran a huge storm getting home just in time. One BIG moment was looking back after we got married and what all we have gone through, then to see where we are today. The life Chris has made for us, and what he will make us. He came from nothing and is really showing the world what he is made of. I'm very proud of him and his dreams and I can't wait to stand by his side, just as he is excited about when I'm a famous author...hehe! Okay, okay, I'm not trying to write a biography here, I promise!

{Daughter of the King}
What is your favorite book (or favorite author)?

{Sarah of White Roses}
Oh wow! Lets start with Jan Watson and her first two books "Troublesome Creek" and "Willow Springs" She is the author that stirred my idea of being a writer and her books, not only are great, but they have a personal, sentimental meaning for me also. Then, Bonnie Leon and her Sydney Cove series. Not only is she personally a sweet and inspiring woman on her own, her books are captivating. Though she really knows how to make out a antagonist and scenarios you HATE! While reading Sydney Coves series, I got mad so many times from the people and events, but that is what makes a great book. She really can make a person fall in love with her characters. Liz Curtis Higgs is actually a newly found writer that I have come to love. I just read her books "Here Burns my Candle" and "Mine is the Night" and I LOVED them. Beautifully written tales. They were awesome! What is funny is I apparently have been reading her since I was a child, since my mom bought some of her children's book a long time ago and only a few months ago did I find that out... Though she is not a Christian writer, I love Philipaa Gregory. Her books are stunningly written and they have the best details of anyone I have read, in my opinion. She is so vivid in her works that I can actually see what she is talking about. And she can wrap tiny little details into the story that make up such big and fleshy pictures in your mind. She is a GREAT writer.

{Daughter of the King}
What is your favorite movie of all time?

{Sarah of White Roses}
This will sound geeky, but Lord of the Rings. LOL!

{Daughter of the King}
If you could vacation anywhere in the world where would it be?

{Sarah of White Roses}
Australia, Ireland/Scotland, England. Germany or Spain. I'd be more than happy to travel the USA and to learn all about our country through the land itself. There is so much right here in the USA.

{Daughter of the King}
Do you have any favorite quotes?

{Sarah of White Roses}
 I'm awful at this. Every time someone asks me this question I never can think of one right off hand even though I know I have them. So, at this moment no I don't have one, but later I will remember.

{Daughter of the King}
If you could tell every young woman out there one (or a few) piece(s) of advice what would you tell them?

{Sarah of White Roses}
Put all of your faith in God. That is the only way to get you through life and through the tough times especially. Believe me, I know this. Never give up your dreams no matter what you have going on in your life. Always keeping dreaming!!!! You can do it, you just have to have to will to do something about it. Don't let anyone tell you that you cannot do something. You can do great things, as long as YOU believe so and have the will to do it. Also take a stand for your beliefs. In a world who's strong people are dwindling away, those who break with the slightest push, we need more who take a stand for the better and greater good of people. And one more thing- NEVER lose your youthful heart. Don't be afraid or embarrassed to play in the rain, smell the flowers, observe things as a child would, play with the animals, be goofy...just PLAY. If you lose that part of you, you lose everything. Kids know what they're doing, remember they are smarter then us! ;)

Interview with Sarah of White Roses {Pt. 1}

{Daughter of the King}
Hi Sarah! Thank you so much for being willing to let me interview you on my blog! I am sure that my blog readers will love getting to know you, because I know that I myself have loved getting to know you my dear lovely friend through your blog (White Roses) and on Facebook. So to start this interview off why don't you choose one random word to describe yourself and share it with us?

{Sarah of White Roses}
Hm, I'd say the best one would be, Pig-headed. I have always been strong willed and if someone told me I couldn't do it (no matter the reason) I'd find a way to accomplish whatever it is. When I have it in my head it usually doesn't subside until I get it done or fixed. Also, I'm that way in my beliefs. If there is something I feel strongly for, there is just about no way to knock it out of me.

{Daughter of the King}
Okay, so now that the random bit is out of the way why don't you tell us a little bit about yourself and your family?

{Sarah of White Roses}
I'm the youngest of 3 kids. There is an 11+ age difference between me, my brother and my sister. They weren't expecting me. Ha! But, to be honest I wouldn't have it any other way. I was like an only child because they moved out before I was 10 years old. My sister and he husband moved to Ft. Bragg and my brother moved about 10 or so miles away but he had his own life and I didn't get to see him much either. My parents got married in their teens and have been married ever since. They are in their 50's now. Yep, that is a long time!

{Daughter of the King}
Can you tell us a little morsel or two about your blog, the name of your blog, and what you write about?

{Sarah of White Roses}
I started my blog a few months ago by the suggestion of a friend. I still have no idea what I am doing on it. This blogging thing is hard to figured out. The name comes from a part in a poem I wrote a few years ago. It is called Angel Wings. It was my favorite poem that I have written. One of the lines is "I hold white roses a little too tightly, do you see the red drip lightly?" Thus, the name I use for quite a lot of things including my blog. I have a few of my writing works on my blog, but I also use it for my books reviews that I do. So far, my blog is just very new and random. Not much on there, but there are little bits here and there. I'm still progressing.

{Daughter of the King}
How do you deepen your relationship with Christ daily? Do you have any favorite scriptures?

{Sarah of White Roses}
 I try my best to read the Bible every day, but sometimes I lag at it. And I do pray every day whether it is small random talking/prayers or the full on your knees and pray sort. For me, most of the time it is the little random ones. I always try my best to put my complete faith in Him and the more I do it the easier it gets. There is so much in my life right now that I could be freaking out over, but I let it go and let Him worry about it. That helps tremendously. I also try my best to help others out too. Like for example, there was a young lady out on the sidewalk in town with a sign for "Family in Need." We didn't get to go over and see what she needed, but I wish we (my husband Chris and I) would have because it has been eating me up. I hope to have more chances to do things like that, then next time I will get my butt in gear! One of my favorite verses is Hebrews 13:2 "Be not forgetful to entertain strangers; for thereby some have been entertained angels unawares." How awesome would THAT be!?

{Daughter of the King}
What are some of your favorite pastimes and hobbies?

{Sarah of White Roses}
Now, I have a lot. Lets see... Painting, drawing, sketching. Art goes back as far as I can remember. Photography is a big one. It is fairly new compared to how long I have been playing in arts, but I have loved taking pictures for a long time. I'd steal my mom and dad's little camera and go take pictures of random things, then dad would find out and I'd get the "Don't break it!" comments. I love just being outside. Anything like hiking, walking, sitting, playing around, gardening, etc. I hate being inside for very long.

{Daughter of the King}
A little birdy told me that you are currently writing a novel. Any chance that you might want to share with us what type of work you are writing?

{Sarah of White Roses}
 Historical fiction. I wrote to one of my favorite authors after reading two of her books a few years ago. She wrote me back and in her e-mail she suggested that I should be a writer. I never thought about it and I was shocked that a REAL author would say something like that. That made me think maybe I should give it a go. I thought I'd play around with it. So, I started Tipper's Heart. I had NO IDEA what I was doing. I just started writing about a man on a ship, set in the 1900s. It has taken a lot of research, and I fear there'll be more, and a lot of reading "How to write" books, but it has been coming along. I've just kept writing it and fell in love with my characters, and I kept getting more ideas for it. I'm still working on it, but I'm over half way done. I still don't think I'm that great at it. I see how beautiful others works are, but that keeps me motivated to keep writing and someday I will be in Christian books and magazines next to my favorite authors. ;)

A Book Scented Green Date Day

This past Saturday was so much fun. Jared drove down to visit so he could take me out on a date day. An entire date day together! Okay, so I was only a little super excited about our date day, and I still am really. Just maybe I'll tell you a little bit about our day...
{image via: weheartit.com}
1) We went to one of our favorite local used bookstores (when I say local I usually mean anywhere from 30 min.- 1 hr. drive away) and perused the heavily packed bookshelves. I had brought in a nice sized stack of my own books to trade in for store credit, sadly Mr. Greg (the bookstore owner) was away in Germany. Long story short: firstly I can't go into a bookstore without at least purchasing a book or two, and secondly with the store owner being out of the country he couldn't exactly give me any trade credit. (Sad face.) Well, better luck next time on getting trade credit I suppose. Jared and I still had a lot of fun in the used bookstore, despite my lack of trade credit.

{image via: weheartit.com}
2) After having purchased 2 books Jay and I left the bookstore and we headed towards the BIG TOWN to grab an early lunch at Applebee's. I absolutely love their 2 for $20 deals! Good thing because that's what we ended up deciding to get. Jay settled for a steak and a ginormous mound load of fries, whereas I went for the three cheese chicken penne which is always fab tasting, but never fails to leave me without a tummy ache! :( Lunch was super delicious and while filling our mouths with yum-o delights we had some fun talking about how we both envisioned the Eragon movie really going down (gosh we are such nerds!), instead of the pitiful attempt that was the Eragon movie. If you've not seen the movie or read the book yet you should definitely see the movie first, but only if you don't want to be disappointed by the movie. If you are a literary lover however I strongly recommend that you read the book first, please! ;)

3) Jared has pretty much worn out all of his Summer clothes. That said we both ended up in the Belk, at the small town mall that is in the bigger city, and scoured the racks for a good deal on some decent dungarees for my guy. I am happy to announce that the mission has been accomplished.

{image via: teenhollywood.com}

4) I had suggested to Jay that we go and see the new Green Lantern movie. (Heather from Mrs. Southern Bride and Rachel from Dove of Snow said it was a good movie. Great recommendation ladies. Thanks!) I'm really glad I did too, because we both loved it! Surprisingly enough I actually liked Green Lantern more than the new Pirates 4 movie. Shocker, I know. I pretty much shocked myself when I declared that I like Green Lantern over Pirates 4 at the end of the movie...pretty sure I shocked Jay too! The movie was full of the Classic Sci-Fi essence and a lot of quirky humor. You'll just have to go see it for yourself to understand...

5) Later on in the evening after we got back from the movies I asked my sister Mary if she'd take some photos of Jared and I together, and sweetly enough she obliged. I don't think Jared is ever too thrilled to pose for the camera, but it really means the world to me when he does. I love having my photo taken beside the guy that has my heart. Thank you for humoring me, Jay, even if you don't understand why I have the compulsive desire/need to take photos of everything in existence including your handsome face.

So, yes, that was my date day with my guy this past Saturday. It was a wonderful day! Anyone have any more creative ideas for date days? I'd love to hear them if ya got them...

Just Relax Restless Bird

{image via: weheartit.com}
"People who won't settle down, wandering hither and yon, are like restless birds, flitting to and fro."
{Proverbs 27:8}

I must confess to you, that I am the daughter who won't settle down in His presence without a struggle. I am the one who cannot seem to make nest where peace reigns and resides at in my heart and mind at times. I am the restless bird, flitting through life, to and fro, never knowing where to go, or how to relax within. I want to let Him show me how to relax my soul, but I strain to pull away from fears and doubts daily. My fears, they leave me restless, in a state of unrest that eats at my worm infested joy. I let my fears eat me alive, out of body and soul. It's sitting still and resting my inner self that stands against me and my sanity. Relaxation is calling...

There are many passages throughout scripture that speak of not worrying, and I am constantly reminded over and over again when I recall their precious words to mind that I am not to fear, but I am instead meant to have faith that my Heavenly Father will clothe and feed me. He wants what is best for me. I know He wants me to truly rest and relax, to cast away my fears and let Him inside. He wants to be the one to calm my restless feathered heart.

I'm sure both you and I have all of the scriptures that tell us not to fret or worry committed and memorized within our hearts and minds, but do we really ever take to heart that we are not to fret and worry? Do we see that we are indeed held in higher regard than all of the beautiful birds in the world? Should we let our fears keep our minds and hearts from taking flight, or should we release our cares and settle down in Him? I think He's calling us to relaxation, with a mind that's stayed on Him.

So what can you and I do to ensure that we don't become like the restless birds? We can meditate, pray, read scriptures, focus ourselves on becoming more Christ-like, try and clear our minds of our worries by talking to a close friend about our life issues, or we could even try our hand at decluttering our hearts by writing out our swimming emotions in a journal. Maybe writing isn't your thing though? You could try playing piano (or another instrument), painting, sewing, reading, taking photographs, walking, biking or doing anything that fills you up and relaxes you (and also invites Him in to calm you) and sends fear and restlessness out with the wind in the door where they belong, so that you can be maxed and fully relaxed, you beautiful bird you!

We are His children, who are worth far more than feathered birds! We should be care free, when in the care of God. Can we find the greatness of His peace together, and let those frenzied feathers rest for a spell? I am starting to learn that it is okay to let my mind get lost in it's many thoughts of creative chaos daily, as long as I remember to reject my fears and let my mind be stayed on Him. Only then, when He is my rock, will I find rest.

Other Scriptures For The Restless Bird:
"If you decide for God, living a life of God-worship, it follows that you don't fuss about what's on the table at mealtimes or whether the clothes in your closet are in fashion. There is far more to your life than the food you put in your stomach, more to your outer appearance than the clothes you hang on your body. Look at the birds, free and unfettered, not tied down to a job description, careless in the care of God. And you count far more to Him than birds." (Matthew 6:26, MSG)

"From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I." (Psalm 61:2, NIV)

"And you? Go about your business without fretting or worrying. Relax. When it's all over, you will be on your feet to receive your reward." (Daniel 12:13, MSG)

what i've been... {{june}}

Hi everyone! I am back sooner than I thought I'd be! Well, I thought I'd kick off my return with this month's "What I've Been" post. There were a couple of you dear blogger lovelies who left me questions to answer on my last goodbye post, and I assure you that they will be answered in a future post, okay? Ah, it's grand to be back again! Well, let's get to it shall we!?

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Discovering:

That I have a total obsession with anything that's owl related. I mean I've got a zillion quite a few images saved to my computer...and they're just owls! Art, photography, design, jewelry, yes, it's just that much better when it's all owl! Speaking of owls, has anyone listened to the new Owl City album yet? Thoughts??

Listening To:

If Anberlin and Seven Places had a 'band baby' it would be Hyland.

Reading:

This is your newest reading assignment children! Haha. This was such an awesome book. It was the best book I've read in a while...seriously. It was extremely well written and fast paced. It really makes you think about being a freedom fighter and going against the grain in the world too. I award this book 5 stars!!! Go Team Katniss!

I've only just started reading the second book in Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games Trilogy, but I am already in like with this one too! Let's see if this one turns out to be as brilliant as it's predecessor...and then after this baby I am gonna read Mockingjay and then I'll let you know all about the trilogy, okay?

Learning:
That I seriously need to take a chill pill and relax! It's okay to have a mind filled with creative chaos, as long as you remember to let God in too!

Hearing From God:
Come now and rest... {This is a work in progress...the resting...}

Watching:

This was a really super cute movie! I adore Mandy Moore and she did a really good job voice acting and singing throughout the whole movie as the part of Rapunzel. Sadly, I had to watch this one by myself because no one else was interested in watching it with me. ::sigh::

My momma, sister and I all watched this movie the other day together and we absolutely loved it! The soundtrack spammed Britt Nicole a bit, but who cares really because I love Britt and I l-o-v-e this movie! This is a 'buy' for sure! ;)

You know the drill! Share with us too! What have you been discovering about yourself, listening to, reading, learning, hearing from God and watching lately?

Goodbye.

{image via: weheartit.com}

Okay, so unfortunately I don't have a zillion things stuck in my brain to blog about right now at this very moment, but I do have a zillion things to do out in the world that is my so called life. ::sigh:: I'll be heading out of town tomorrow so I won't be blogging for a few days. So for now I'll say... See You Later. Adieu. Au Revoir. Auf Wiedersehen. Ta Ta For Now. Later Gator. Until We Meet Again...

Um, before I go... I have a few more things to say. [the few more things are found below]

Okay, so as you know, I love random things. And I'm absolutely sure that you, my dear sweet followers, have noticed this fact about me over the last two years or so if you've been following me. (Are you following me...in every sense of the word!? lol) Here's where the randomness takes flight: Why don't YOU (yes, you!) come up with some random questions to ask me, and they may just end up being answered in a future blog post here on Daughter of the King. Sound good? You can keep it light or not. Feel free to share a quote with me. Tell me about your favorite movie and why it is your fave...let's just keep the conversation ball rolling, okay?  So, ask away m'dears!

Because goodbyes are a truly horrid thing...

I'll say, "See you later."

Because saying "See you later" is so much more pleasant indeed!

Getting To Know All About Me

Welcome New Follower Lovelies:
I have had quite a few new lovely followers find and follow my blog over the last couple of weeks...exciting, no? YES. Thank you so much for deciding to follow me and my little writing space that is called {Daughter of the King}. With all of those thanks said to you, you new and very much so wonderfully awesome new blog followers, I think that it's now time for a proper introduction between you and I!

As A Bloggeress:
I've been blogging for nearly 2 years now (I started DOTK in July '09) and I have loved absolutely every second of it! Writing, for me, is about getting my heart and my mind sorted out on e-paper, when it seems that I have no other way of possibly alternatively expressing myself outright. It's in writing, this brilliant lovely thing that is one part release of soul and one part allowance of the flooding in of inspiration, that I find I am made whole. In Him and the words that I write I am found. It's about reflecting on what the Lord has been working within me and my devoted, albeit it at time trying, walk with Him. Writing is a release for myself and sometimes it just must be shared with all of you.

What I Write About:
I write about everything from a to z, to the moon and then back again...this young woman has a big imagination lemme tell you! I'm the proverbial idyllic day-and-night-dreamer. I am an Idealist all the way. I write about my love for my Jesus, my family and my handsome guy, as well as a whole slew of other things too! I don't JUST want to write about anything, such as movie reviews, poetry, fashion posts, hair styling tips, picture posts, book reviews, music reviews, devotions and about tough topics. I JUST want to write about everything! Everything that God has laid upon this heart of mine, to free it and see it grow before my very eyes...and hopefully, prayerfully, the lessons that I learn daily and the things that I begin to glimpse within my ever growing heart will also find your heart too and ignite thought, passion and wisdom within you!

As A Daughter Of The King:
I am a sinner. I am a saint. I am a Child of God. My Home is not here on this Earth, but in Heaven where I will one day dwell. I have chosen to forsake my sinful nature and stand beside One who is blameless...some days are harder than others to stand steadfast.  I have been saved and washed anew from an early age. I am a Daughter of the King.

Not Just Any Girl. Things About Me:
I am 22.
My name is Sarah Elizabeth. It means "Princess Consecrated unto God."
I am in love with my Saviour.
I am in love with my boyfriend, Jared Fisher.
I am an incessant goof-ball.
I'm a Natural Brunette, who has NEVER dyed her hair.
I'm a Spring Baby (May)
I write poetry about the woman at the well and star gazing rocks...a to z, really.
I live at Home with my family...yes, still.
I have one younger sister and a Bichon Frise named Abby.
My family and I have a tiny Worm Farm in our garage.
Our baby chicks come in the mail in the next week or so.

There's More To Know:
Well, there's a lot more about me that I decided NOT to share with you in this post, because honestly it would have been a gargantuan post had I done so. I'd love for you to stick around and stay for a long while on Daughter of the King so you can find out more about me, God and all of my crazy days of life here on Planet Earth! So, please do make yourself comfy while I write out  my heart for Him and us both! I'd love to hear more about you too! Perhaps you could invite your friends to come and 'meet' me also? Thank you so much for following!
