If I was a rich girl my closet would look a little something like this...
I have a shoe fetish...love 'em...even though I'd rather be barefoot and don't like wearing shoes for very long periods of time...
I love unique accessories and rustic handbags...

Here are a few celeb looks that I adore...

Oh, le sigh. I guess this girl, the one who usually spends all of her clothes/shoe money on books, is actually going to have to brave it, face her fears, find her inner fashionista and go clothes shopping. Trying desperately all the while to spice up her wardrobe, on a limited budget, while seeking how to nail her style down, define it, and then set it into carbonite for all to see indefinitely and ever so clearly.
Star Wars reference? Yeah, okay, I really went there. Nerd out moment. ;)

I wonder how many absolutely must-have clothing items $200 can get you nowadays anyway? Because that's all this girl has to work with currently. So... Wish me luck? And if you know what my style is would ya please help a girl out and tell her what it is already!?
What are some of your fave fashion staples for Summer-time? Comment below and let me know what's in your wardrobe, where you shop 'til you drop and what you'd recommend to buy for a fashionista-novice like me, will you?

Hahha...yes if only all of the pictures I have seen and love could come through the computer. I actually got two shirts the other day at a thrift store...and I think one book too :P Good luck with that shopping...I think that a must have for summer is some cool sunglasses and some really cute sandals like those in the last picture. P.S. Star Wars is cool :)
I love Thrift Stores, but somehow I always manage to forget them. Silly me. Thanks for the reminder...and I am totally itching to buy myself a pair of new sandals to spruce up my wardrobe...so we'll see. =)
ReplyDeleteHa...I know what you mean about having a non-existent fashion sense! I'm the same way. But a few months ago I was reading a sewing book and it was talking about finding your style. When I picked out my favorite clothes, the ones I feel the most comfortable and confident in, I could see that I actually do gravitate towards certain things. :) I need to go clothes shopping, too, but I usually find it a bit depressing (plus, I'd also rather spend the money on books or craft supplies). I rarely find clothes that I like, but when I do it's generally at Target or Old Navy. Pretty much all of my shoes (all flats) come from Payless.
ReplyDeleteSummer is actually the hardest time for me to find things to wear. I don't wear shorts or capris (or skirts above the knee). I hate flipflops unless I'm going swimming. I'm not crazy about sleeveless shirts, but I'll wear them when I have to. So I spend most of summer trying to find ways to wear my other clothes without sweating to death. :) I'm just so much more comfortable in cool weather scarves, tights, and cardigans!

Oh, yes, I do find clothes shopping rather depressing too. I've not really looked at Target's clothing (since I don't have one in my town, but there's one where my bf lives at so maybe I'll go there next time I visit him), but I do love Old Navy.
DeleteI agree with you on summer-time too. By the time I find myself ready to truly break down and or buy summer clothes it's usually Fall-time already!
Bring on the Autumnal breezes if you please, Mother Nature. ;)
I think your style would be dressy laid back casual. I like it. :) $200 has the potential to go far haha but it also has the potential to run out quickly.
ReplyDeleteWell, I am a pretty laid back lady! Hehe!
DeleteOh I've spent so long on pinterest looking at all the clothes!! It's so inspiring in one sense, but then it makes me want to go SHOP. I think thrift stores are my favorite places to shop. I also like finding deals at the mall. I love all the clothes you posted here! :)

Looking at clothing on Pinterest is like taking a jump through a time-vortex or falling down an extremely dark and narrow rabbit hole. In other word, yeah I get lost in it all too! =P
DeleteInvest in good, classic pieces that fit you right...and then fill in with fun, unique pieces! You don't have to lable your style, and in time a lot of people go through stages where they like certain looks better than others! From looking above though I would definitely say you have a little country/bohemian style going on. :-) Just wear what makes you feel most comfortable and beautiful...and don't be afraid to mix and match "styles." Since I live in Romania now I am sure you don't care where I buy my clothes! But while in America I have usually found good things at Target, Forever 21, H&M, Maurices, Delias, JC Penny, Old Navy..... Basically whatever stores catch my eye and where I happen to find a good deal!! :-) of course I am one of those people that really enjoy shopping, but if you are more like my sister who finds it depressing and dull, I will tell you what I tell her..... Just pick up things that catch your eye, even if you aren't sure about the style! You never know until you try it on!! :-) Well I am certainly in a rambling mood, I didn't mean to leave such a long comment!! :-) I am no expert, I just thought I would share what I've learned myself! Good luck and have fun shopping!! :-)

Country/Bohemian!? Ooh, I like that! Maybe I (since I live in the NC Mountains) will call my style "mountain bohemian" or something. I like that, comfortable and beautiful. That's exactly what I wanna go for. I've never really looked into Target's or Forever 21's clothing too much, but I love Maurices and Old Navy's clothing (their clothes usually fit me better than most other stores.) Um, I am like your sister. Sigh. I get really depressed when I have to try on PILES of clothes, and usually end up walking out of stores with no shopping bags adorning my lonely wrists. It's sad really.
DeleteI am going shopping this Thursday, so I will just try going into the stores you mentioned, keep in mind what "style" I love and try to find something that is properly fitted, beautiful and comfortable.
Thanks for all of your wonderful advice! I wish we could go shopping together...in Romania! That would be awesome! :-)
All I have to say is you should read The No Brainer Wardrobe by Hayley Morgan at The Tiny Twig. It has a low-fuss method for figuring out what to buy and wear and decide what to put on in the morning. I loved it! And if you buy it through the link on my blog, you help send me to Spain this summer on a mission trip!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I love Charlotte Russe. And I bought a pencil skirt at Express that I highly recommend you get if they still sell it there. It's just a simple black pencil. Simple but classic and super versatile!
