Shiver & Linger by Maggie Stiefvater
(I bought both of these books at the used bookstore // $5 each)
I've heard good things about this series, and after all it's been the staff pick at quite a few different bookstores I've been to lately. It's been said that this series is similar to The Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer. I actually loved *most* of the Twilight books (sans the 1st half of Breaking Dawn), so I'm sure I'll at least like this series if anything. Oh well, I guess time will tell.
Prophet
by RJ Larson
(This was my July half book at work // $7)
I read the first few chapters of this book at the bookstore while the store was dead, and I didn't want to put it down. Of course I had to leave the book at the store, waiting to read it until I got my own copy. Now that I have my own copy I have to finish my review books and my two just-for-fun books: The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern and The Peculiars by Maureen Doyle McQuerry before I even touch this one. Sigh.
Books I Won In A Giveaway...
Shadow of Colussus // City of the Dead // Guardian of the Flame
I won a three book giveaway a while ago over at Christian Bookshelf Reviews. I just got the books in the mail this past week. Thank you so much, Melanie!

Okay, so I'm dying to know what you think of the new blog design and URL!? Didn't Hannah do such a phenomenal job with it? I swear it's like she went rummaging through my brain and created a sanctuary that is so me and exactly what I never knew I even wanted! Thanks again, Hannah! You totally rock!!

Review Book Additions:
The Guest Book by Marybeth Whalen
I recently received this book (and 30+ bookmarks to pass out at the bookstore) in the mail a week or so ago. I still have one more review book to read before I can start on this one. Admittedly, I'm behind in my review book reading. *sheepish grin* Look out for a review on The Guest Book in about a month or so.
Aldo's Fantastical Movie Palace by Jonathan Friesen
I also received this book in the mail this past week (right around the same time I got the T.L. Higley books.) This one is a Middle-Grade novel from ZonderKidz. I've actually come to love the Middle-Grade books lately, especially Swipe by Evan Angler and Waves of Light by Naomi Kinsman. I'm really looking forward to reading this one! Look out for a review of Aldo's Fantastical Movie Palace in the next month or so also (hopefully *fingers crossed* in August.)// / // / //

SARAH!
ReplyDeleteI <3 the redesign. Beautiful. And, I agree with you, so, so you.
*squeal* Can't wait to go book-shopping with you this weekend. And, I'm cleaning out my bookshelves today, too, to make room for all the finds I'll make with ya, so isn't that a neat little coincidence.
I thought you would be changing that url sooner or later. :)
Love and hugs,
Rachelle
I don't even know how Hannah does it! Honestly, I think she must've raided my heart and brain all at the same time, and recreated me on an ePage. She totally made my soul splash all over this design!
DeleteI cannot wait to go book-shopping with you either, girl! We are going to have a blast. End of story.
Yes, if I had known that changing the URL would've been as simple as my having found a domain and purchased it for next to nothing I would've done so sooner!
Love & Hugs Backatya! <3
I love your new design! And is there anything quite so lovely as new books? :)
ReplyDeleteI read "Shiver". It was pretty good. That set of three books you won looks like a fun read!
Thanks, Heather! I'm kinda *completely* in love with it too! Glad you liked 'Shiver,' now there's hope for me! ;)
DeleteNew books (or new to you books) are one of the best things ever. :)
ReplyDeleteI totally broke my two-book-a-month rule this month. Between library sales and used bookstores, I found so many good (cheap!) books in July! Including Swipe at the local bargain store. Looking forward to reading that one ever since you posted about it. :)
~Kristin
Brand New & New-Used books are A L W A Y S the BEST!! Haha! I'd been wondering how you were doing with that whole only-gonna-buy-two-books-a-month rule. At least you got good deals on the books you splurged on, right? You know, I tell myself that I'll only buy so many books a month too, and I always, always fail miserably, mostly because I am quite good at finding new reads for next to nothing. Really I guess you could say that I'm the "book glutton" and not my bookshelves. ;-) I really do hope you enjoy reading Swipe! The next book in the Swipe series will be out in another month or two (I'll be reviewing that one as well, so be on the lookout!)
DeleteOoh, I've been thinking about going to my local used book store and trading in some books, and this clenched that idea. (: I love the blog design, it's so beautiful! ^_^
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fantastic pile of books! Now to find the time to read, right? :) I look forward to reading your reviews! I've always got an eye out for good new books!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, the images in your blog header and sidebar show up as "Domain Unregistered: register your domain here...blahblahblah." Since I'm from a non-US country, I was wondering whether there might be a problem with people accessing your site from outside the US?
Thanks for following me, Sienna! Yes, finding the time to read is always the hard part for me.
DeleteI'm actually not sure how the international stuff works. Hmmm... I'll definitely ask Hannah (the designer) about that. Thanks for letting me know.
WOW--some great finds, my friend! Now I want to go to our local used book shop. ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd your new design is AWESOME--SO "you"!!! Love it!
You SO SHOULD, Meghan! I'd love to take a peek at some of your book-hauls sometime! ;)
DeleteI adore your blog design. :) If I ever re-do mine I'm going for a more artsy look. Preferably with birds or some sort of feather. Just beautiful! Ack! You have some great finds. I need to go and poke around our old book shops in town. I haven't done that in ages.
ReplyDeleteThanks, RJ! Ooh, what kind of birds?
DeleteLove your new design! Gorgeous! :) And the books ALL sound interesting in one way or another! I'm anticipating your reviews!! I'm a bit behind on my books for review, as well, but I'm slowly working through them and recently posted a review or two on my blog! :) Have a good day! - Rachel
ReplyDeleteGlad you're looking forward to my upcoming book reviews! Isn't it so easy to get behind on reading review books!? They get piled up sooooo quickly!
