Venom & Song....and Many Waters

Today I had a day date with the guy I love.We went to Mickey D's for lunch and then I went to one of my favorite places in my town...the music store. I got two new piano books for one of my students and then I also bought the scoring for 'New Moon' for myself.
After lunch and the music store we headed on down the road to our ultimate destination...
We went to the sword shoppe and looked at all of the cool swords, and other various epic weaponry. We also went into a gem store and checked out all of the various collected curiosities. Then we headed to sit by the river in the mountains to sit on the rocks together...there we sat as we watched the many waters passing us by. :)
This is my boyfriend 'Farmer Fisher.' Goofing off in one of the many stores we graced with our lovely presence!
At the end of our (mine and J's) date day we drove back into my town and headed to the Family Christian Bookstore where I took a picture with a very nice lady, who was also very accommodating as well as super friendly. I bet you all were wondering why I have been posting things about the Amazon Blitz for 'Venom & Song' a lot lately weren't you? Well, I joined Wayne Thomas Batson and Christopher Hopper's Tribe Building II and the Amazon Blitz to help get the word out about their newest book....and to help my Tribe, Tribe Silvertree, out towards getting the word out about the books and also possibly gaining some cool prizes.

You can find more info about the Amazon Blitz and Wayne Thomas Batson HERE.

Abide. In. Me.

"Live in me. Make your home in me just as I do in you. In the same way that a branch can't bear grapes by itself but only by being joined to the vine, you can't bear fruit unless you are joined with me."
- John 15:4 (The Message)

I love it when God grabs a hold of our attention, don't you? What is a sad fact in most of our lives is that sometimes God has to practically 'knock down the door' to get our attention, when we as Christians should come to Him and commune with Him daily.

Heaven knows that I am not perfect, even though sometimes I wish I was! I do not read my Bible every day like I know I should (did I just confess that, as a Christian young woman, on my blog!?). There always seems to be a 'legitimate' excuse as to why spending time in the Word can wait over and over again. I know I have written about all of this before on my I am needing to get back into my daily devotions, but I am gonna say it again and again until it sticks and reading my Bible becomes an everyday occurrence for me.

This morning I woke up as usual, made myself a chocolate protein shake, went and told my momma good morning, and then I headed to my room, but this time instead of pulling out my laptop first I pulled out my Bible first. Today's devotion, June 14th, in Oswald Chambers' book My Utmost For His Highest read this: "Abide in Me..." (John 15:4) at the top of the page, and those three little words rung in my ears loud and clear.

I think it is funny, and quite amazing to me, how God uses small every day occurrences in our lives to try to grasp our attention. Lemme detour my train of thought for a second.... *I for one am stubborn, impatient and struggle with focusing on anything half of the time (I think I am ADD...never been medically proven, but I struggle sooo much with focusing and being so random in my thought patterns that honestly I aggravate myself and get frustrated with myself at times) so I struggle to hear Him and to sit still long enough to read God's Word and comprehend it and take it to heart.*

Today God spoke through a tiny little devotional book, and last week He spoke through me getting in a car accident (yes, my God is great enough that He can even speak through an unfortunate event). I know it sounds crazy at times, but the way God chooses to speak into me in my daily life typically is very random, and it's usually either from one spectrum to the far side of the other, never the middle ground for me nosiree! He speaks to me in LOUD roars or quiet whispers......a car accident being the former.....and my finding that verse in a devotional book this morning being the latter. I guess the Lord is random in the ways He chooses to speak to me daily because He knows that I His child am random and will best glimpse Him if He shows His face to me or speaks to me in the ways of randomness! lol

There was a really great passage in the devotional this morning that I'd like to share with all of you.

Think of the things that take you out of the position of abiding in Christ. You say, "Yes, Lord, just a minute...I still have this to do. Yes, I will abide as soon as this is finished, or as soon as this week is over. It will be all right, Lord. I will abide then." Get moving...begin to abide now. In the initial stages it will be a continual effort to abide, but as you continue, it will become so much a part of your life that you will abide in Him without any conscious effort. Make the determination to abide in Jesus wherever you are now or wherever you may be placed in the future.

I have realized that just because I don't have a church home right now doesn't mean that I should cease to grow  in Christ, to seek to abide in Him daily with the utmost determination. If I am determined enough I can do all things because of Him that is within me...even staying focused can be done I am sure of it! Yes, it does help to have a church family, which I do not at this time in my life, to hold you accountable and to fellowship with during the week, but being all alone just me and God...well, that can be a way to commune and grow stronger too.

Just some random thoughts as I abide in Him...

Keys, among other things

Today I started teaching a new piano student. I can tell already that Alaythea is musically inclined and will pick up the piano very quickly! I am so excited to teach piano lessons every Thursday. Thursday's have become my favorite day of the week because they are filled with a culmination of two of my favorite things: music and teaching. The first piano lesson for me and my students always seems to be a 'nervous' one, but every time I have taken on a new student we always conquer it, me with curbing my teaching style to best suit the student and the student to getting comfortable with the 'black and whites.'

You know here's a crazy pipe dream of mine, that I thought I'd just throw out there......I have always wanted to write songs. I have one poem that I transitioned into song lyrics a while back and I have yet to try to write any music to go along with the lyrics, but I need to purpose myself to try to do it! I owe myself that much at try to write a song of my long last! I have helped a few old friends of mine write a few lines in a few songs, although I was not credited, and doubt I ever will be, and I'll just have to be okay with that I guess. I really wish I could  write a song....even just one....all by myself!

Anyway....haven't posted on here in a while have I? My head has been going so fast at full speed non stop that I haven't been able to come up with any one particular thing to post about. It's been a long week, what with having some highlights and lowlights. I got into a car accident, got a ticket, cut my hair off to my shoulders, started teaching a new piano student, and tonight after work I will arrive home to my wonderful boyfriend waiting to see me! There are gonna be brighter days ahead in my future....I foresee them....and it is so great to know that I hold the 'rudder' but God is most definitely Captain of my 'life' ship!
