Twenty-Twelve in Word & Verse

With this new year coming just around the corner I've been thinking very hard about what my focus needs to be this coming year. I've also been thinking over what my one word and one bible verse should be for myself and for oh, restless bird in the new year.

That said, I've decided that 2012 will be the year that I will seek to live a more peaceful life. This major worrier and restless soul will strive to live a life that is so greatly filled by my Jehovah-Shalom (God of Peace), and I will continue on my more-than-restless-in-all-the-right-ways-kind-of-a-woman lifestyle that I've discovered in 2011.

My One Word:  Peace

My One Bible Verse: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” john 14:27

In 2012 I will...

  • seek to learn what it means to live a life of peace
  • stay focused daily on living a more peace-filled life
  • study every scripture there is on peace
  • strive to keep peace in my relationships/friendships
  • spend as much time as possible with my Jehovah-Shalom
  • make a more conscious effort not to let worry consume me
  • remind myself to be content (at peace), but never complacent

                                                                                                                 ...and now it's your turn!

I'd love to hear what your one word and one Bible verse will be in 2012 if you chosen them already? Because I'm curious...What did you learn in 2011 that was a needed growing experience for you?

Oh, and may you all have a very blessed and peaceful new year! ;)

  1. Lovely post Sarah!! Happy New Year! :) I am so looking forward to this coming year, I'm ready for some new beginnings. If I had a word for 2012, it would be faith and joy. I need to work on being more cheerful, it effects those around of me! I also am in need of more faith in my everyday life....it is so very important!! :)

  2. Loved reading your post, Sarah! Great word and verse. =D I love this idea, so I picked the word "trust" and did a post on it, too. ;) I really need to work on trusting the Lord this year...I tend to be a worrier, too! =D

  3. So cool that I came upon this particular blog post. I have been seeking the Lord about my attitude over the holidays.....struggling with dealing with people and the word I got is "silence", as in cease striving, be still, let go, let God. I haven't looked up scripture yet because I am pondering still over it all and your post has inspired me to dive in and find out what it all means. Thank you!

  4. Peace is a very great word to have! Maybe I'll do Peace next year. This year my word is "Love", which I posted about here: One Word ~ 2012. As far as a verse goes, I hadn't even considered that, but 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 would be perfect!

  5. Peace. Oh how I constantly need that reminder in my life ! God continuously reminds me of His peace, and I continuously need that reminder :)

My 2012 verse is Ephesians 4:14-21. It's a long one, but it has so much meaning in my life. It is the verse my family prayed over me the years I was in treatment for an eating disorder and depression. It is the verse that has shown me the true heart of God. It is the verse that constantly comes up, week after week. And it is the verse that I now pray over myself and those in my life. I believe this is where God wants me to camp this year :)

  6. {Marie} FAITH. JOY. PEACE. (I love this!)

{Hannah} Keep on pressing into HIM and remember that worrying gets you absolutely NOWHERE! I would know because I struggle with worrying ALL THE TIME.

{AnnMarie} Ooh, I like that! Sometimes we do need to be silent, don't we? I'm not very good at standing still and quiet before the Lord, but I am slowly learning how to and forcing myself to do so. (Nice to meet ya, btw!)

{Eyebright} I love the idea of using the passage from 1 Corinthians! It is so hard to love sometimes. I love that "LOVE" is your focus this year! ;)

{Alexis} Oh, thank you so much for stopping by! Always remember that HE IS YOUR PERSONAL BRAND OF PEACE, dear one! HE IS! Camp Peace. I lkinda like it! Okay, so I'm going to go read that passage you've shared with us on here RIGHT NOW. =)
